Adopt A Tiger

Over the last century, wild tiger numbers have plummeted from 100,000 to an estimated 2,608 to 3,905 mature individuals, accompanied by a loss of more than 93% of tiger habitat range, according to the IUCN Red List. Tigers now stand on the very brink of extinction in many countries across southeast Asia.

Conflict with farmers, poaching, habitat destruction and exploitation in captive tiger farms are some of the reasons why this species is under threat.

WHY ADOPT A TIGER?

Adopting a tiger helps support the lifetime care for Gopal and other rescued tigers, in spacious, natural enclosures with the expert care they need. Your support also helps Born Free protect tigers in the wild – this endangered species is under threat from poaching, the illegal wildlife trade, habitat loss and human-tiger conflict.

Born Free is committed to conserving some of the largest remaining tiger populations and habitats on Earth. We are working at a landscape-level across Central India to provide a unified, focused, and co-ordinated programme for conservation initiatives to tackle the poaching crisis, safeguard tiger habitats, and find ways for communities and wildlife to live together peacefully in the remaining strongholds for wild tigers.

Your adoption also helps us campaign for an end to the use of tigers in circuses, zoos, tourist attractions and as pets.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN YOUR TIGER ADOPTION

You can choose either a physical adoption pack, which you will receive in the post and comes with an optional soft toy. Alternatively, you can opt for a digital adoption pack where 33% more of your adoption fee can go towards our vital work (compared to a physical adoption), and this would be received via email. Both types of adoption packs feature a personalised adoption certificate.

Help care for tigers with an animal adoption, and you’ll receive your exclusive adoption pack containing…

When you adopt a tiger, you will receive either a digital or physical adoption pack, depending on what you chose. The pack contains a personalised certificate, animal story, fact sheet and photo for display. You will also receive a copy of our bi-annual My Adopt magazine with exclusive updates, and if you chose a physical pack with a soft toy, you will receive your pack in the post.

Most importantly, your adoption helps us care for rescued tigers like Gopal, and support our work to protect tiger habitats and reduce conflict between people and tigers, working towards a better future for the majestic tiger.

Digital adoptions mean no packaging, minimal carbon footprint and maximum support for your adopted animal, and Born Free’s work. Digital adoptions mean 33% more of your adoption fee will go directly towards helping animals, compared to choosing a physical adoption pack.
